No Us Without You LA was founded in Los Angeles, California on March 19, 2020.

Why was No Us Without You LA founded?

NUWY-LA was founded on March 19, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 shutdown in Los Angeles. Our co-founders are hospitality consultants who grew frustrated at the lack of support for underserved back-of-house hospitality staff, so they acted. These hospitality workers were unemployed and did not qualify for unemployment insurance benefits even though they pay into the system with every paycheck.

What does No Us Without You LA provide?

NUWY-LA provides food security for the undocumented community (back of house, hospitality, street vendors, mariachis, and marginalized neighborhood residents) throughout Los Angeles County.

As of April 2024, NUWY-LA is serving over 700 families (2,800 humans) quarterly at no cost to them. 

Is No Us Without You LA a registered charity?

No Us Without You LA (EIN #85-0878455) was granted tax-exempt 501c3 status by the Internal Revenue Service, functioning as a public charity starting July 6, 2020.

Currently, donations to the organization are tax-deductible as charitable contributions through the fiscal sponsorship of Finca Tachibana (EIN #86-3589524), as we navigate the reinstatement process for our 501c3 status.

You can apply directly online - just click Solicitar Asistencia in the main navigation and complete this form.

We are a small organization, and it takes time to contact and vet every application. Once we accept a family into our program, we are responsible for their food security.  We appreciate your patience. 

What percentage of my donation supports families in need of food security?

100% of your donation supports families in need of food security. With a donation of $33 we can feed a family of 4 for 1 week. 

Our infrastructure, operating, and overhead costs are taken care of through private discretionary donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
